John H. Upton, 76, of Phoenix, Ariz., and formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died on Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Phoenix Baptist Hospital in Phoenix.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, at the Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Harold Syfert, 97, of Hillsboro, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006, at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mount Pleasant.      A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Salem Friends Church, with the Rev. Charles R. Shriner, 80, formerly of Libertyville and the Mt. Pleasant area, died on Saturday, Sept. 16, in Madera, Calif.Private services were held in the Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. The Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant was in charge of the local arrangements.

Vernon H. Parrish, 87, 807 W. Taylor Ave., died at 1:40 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, at Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield.      No memorial service is scheduled.
