Lois Mae Delaney Miller, 80, of New London, died on Saturday, Aug. 19, at her home that she made with her son, Dan, in New London.      Funeral services were on Monday, Aug. 21, at the Elliot Chapel in New London with the Rev. Sue Tomlinson officiating. Burial was at Burge Cemetery in New London. A memorial has been established.

Emma M. Allender, 102, of Mt. Pleasant, died on Saturday, Aug. 19, at her home.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 23, at 10:30 a.m. at the Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. The Rev. Paul McCloud will be officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Beatrice J. Ivins, 93, formerly of Batavia, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2006, at Monroe Care Center in Albia.      A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Batavia Cemetery, with Harry Monroe officiating. Earl McKay, 91, of Burlington, formerly of Van Buren County, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006, at Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.      A graveside service was held this morning at Maple Hill Cemetery at Birmingham, with the Rev. Edith E. Nicholson, 87, of Mt. Pleasant, died on Saturday, Aug. 19, at Park Place Long Term Care Center.Funeral arrangements are pending at the Beatty-Murphy Funeral home of Mt. Pleasant.

There are some amazing players on the 2006 all-GTNS baseball team, but there are also were a number of incredible players who weren't named to the team. A number of players who led their teams to state, as well as a number of sluggers who hit mammoth home runs and fireballing pitchers were unable to make this year's squad. Because of the great talent in the area this season, the selection process was very difficult. 

Irene B, Rod, 85, of Story City, died Aug. 17, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.      Funeral services will be Monday Aug. 21, at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial will follow in the Story City Cemetery. Visitation was on Sunday at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City. Leora Clark, 92, of Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday, Aug. 20, at the Henry County Health Center.Visitation will begin after 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday. Carl Joseph Snook, 74, of Bloomfield, died at 7:15 a.m. Aug. 18, 2006 at home.Funeral services were held Aug, 21, at the Reece Funeral Home with Rev. John Spiegel officiating.
