Edward R. Hayes, 85, died April 7, 2006 at Kavanaugh House in Des Moines, after a battle with colon cancer. His body was cremated and a memorial service will be held at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Des Moines April 29 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant on Monday, May 1. Mr. Hayes was born May 1, 1920 in New London, the first child of Columbus and Beulah Billingsley Hayes.
