Jessie Mildred Swailes Byers, 93, Mt. Pleasant, died at 11:37 a.m. Sept. 21, 2004 at Arbor Court in Mt. Pleasant.      The graveside funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, at Grant Cemetery near Rome with the Rev. Dave Peterson officiating. According to her wishes, the body has been cremated. COLUMBUS JUNCTION-Neta Fowler, 52, of Morning Sun, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville.      Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23, at United Methodist Church in Winfield, with the Rev. Claude Hemsworth, 80, of Pine River, Minn., died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at his home.      The funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23 at Kline Funeral Home in Pine River. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.      Mr. Hemsworth was born March 3, 1924, in Minneapolis, Minn., the son of Claude and Clara Palmer Hemsworth. John Virgil Morris, 81, of Mt. Pleasant, died at 2:20 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004, at his home.      A celebration of his life is being planned for a later date. KALONA - Dave G. Evans, 59, of Wellman died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, following a brief illness.      A funeral service will be held at a later date in Tallyrand. Peterseim Funeral Service of Kalona is in charge of arrangements. A general memorial fund has been established.      Mr. Evans was born Oct. 30, 1944, the son of Walter and Eunice (Wagamon) Evans, in Washington.

Jane Cassing Zimmerschied Paar, 91, of Winston-Salem, N.C., formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at the Clemmons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.      The body has been cremated. A memorial service is planned for later this month at the Faith Lutheran Church in Mt. Pleasant. Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Smith, 65, of Dyersville, formerly of Dubuque, died of a sudden illness and was found Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, at his home.      The memorial service was Monday at Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Earlville, with the Rev. Clara Catherine Douglas Ayers, 100, died Sept. 18, 2004, at home in Des Moines, attended by her grandson and his wife.      The funeral service was at 11 a.m. today at Dunn's Funeral Home in Des Moines.Survivors include two grandchildren, Richard Ayers of Des Moines, and Rachel Ayers of Mt.
