Galyean, 54, of New London, died unexpectedly Sunday, May 11, 2003, at the Fort Madison Community Hospital.      The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 15, 2003, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. KALONA-Mildred F. Hunter, 89, of Kalona, died Tuesday, May 13, 2003, at Pleasantview Home in Kalona, following a lengthy illness.      Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 16, at Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona, with the Rev. Mike Orthel and the Rev. David L. Yoder officiating. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery in West Liberty. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 15, from 3 to 8 p.m. with family present.

Opal A. Miller, 83, of New London, formerly of Lockridge, died on Saturday, May 10, 2003, at the New London Nursing and Rehab Center following declining health.      The memorial service will be today at 7 p.m. at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Robert Hary of the Mt. Union Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. A private graveside service

Ralph B. Piper, 75, of Mt. Pleasant, died at 3:02 p.m. on Sunday, May 11, 2003, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.      The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, at the Forest Home Cemetery chapel, where burial will take place. Pastor Dean Elmore of the Washington Church of God will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday at the Weir Funeral Home in Mt.

Orah Henry Vander Martin, 55, of Mountain Lakes, N.H., formerly of the Mt. Pleasant and Salem areas, died at his home April 22, 2003, of cancer.      A memorial service was held May 4 in New Hampshire, and a local service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 24, at the Salem Friends Church. Memorials may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.

Artie F. Darby, 63, of Washington, died Sunday, May 11, 2003, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.      Funeral services have been set for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, at First Christian Church, with the Rev. Rich Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m., prior to the funeral service, at First Christian Church. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

Edwin Carl Spencer, 79, of Burlington, formerly of Danville, died on Saturday, May 10, 2003, at Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport.      The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14 at Elliott Chapel in New London, with the Rev. Leonard Schantz officiating. Burial will be in Jaggar Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be after noon on Tuesday, May 13, at the chapel with family present from 6:30

Hope Nadine Thornburg, 83, of Mt. Pleasant, died at 4:55 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.      The service of Requiem Holy Eucharist will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 12, 2003, at Saint Michael's Episcopal Church in Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Wayne K. Kamm, assisted by Deacon Dian Ong, officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.

PLAINFIELD, Ill.-Jerome F. Webb, 71, of Plainfield, Ill., died April 30, 2003, at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Ill.      Funeral services were held May 3 in Crest Hill, Ill. Burial was in Elmhurst Cemetery in Joliet, Ill.
