Opal Mae Pardall, 87, of Mt. Pleasant, died at 9:56 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 6 at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Franklin with the Rev. Judy Holcomb officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery in Franklin. Visitation will begin after 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5 at the Hofbauer

Myong Suk Smith
Myong Suk Smith, 76, died January 13, 2018 while under hospice care at home. She was born in North Korea in May 1941. Her mother and father died after war broke out in 1950. She fled South with other refugees that winter. U.S. Army soldiers took her to safety in Seoul and on to an orphanage in Wonju where she continued to grow up. Harold L. "Pete" Pearce, 85, of Fairfield, died at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
