John E. Layman, 83, of Washington, died Saturday, July 13, 2002, at Halcyon House in Washington, following a lengthy illness.      Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, with the Rev. LONE TREE - Robert Clayton Petsel, 81, of Lone Tree, died Monday, July 15, 2002, at his home.      Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, at Lone Tree Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Ann Rouse officiating. Burial with military rites accorded by the Lone Tree American Legion will be in Lone Tree Cemetery. Lynda L. White, 51, of Des Moines, and formerly of Washington, died Friday, July 5, 2002, at Mercy Hospital in Johnston, following a respiratory illness.      Memorial services were held July 9, in Des Moines. A general memorial has been established.See Tuesday's Journal for the complete obituary.

Mark Vincent Pence, 58, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of New London, died at his home July 15, 2017. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 - 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at the Linkin Center, 113 W. Main, New London. Mark's brothers and their families invite friends and family to attend. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. Elliott Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

James Franklin Pickle, 83, of Mt. MUSCATINE - Roy Myrton McCormick, 99, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and formerly of Winfield, died July 6, 2002, at the Marjorie P. Lee retirement center in Cincinnati, Ohio.      Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 13, at the George M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home in Muscatine. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established at the funeral home.

CEDAR RAPIDS - Mildred "Millie" L. Jungbluth, 81, of New Hampton, died Friday, July 12, 2002, at her home, following a brief illness.      Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 19, at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.
