Edith Lucille Mills, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, died on Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at the Great River Medical Center in Burlington.      The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Richard Iles officiating. Visitation began at noon on Monday, Jan. 21, at the funeral home with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Hillsboro Cemetery.

Marlan R. Staff, 66, of New London, died at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at his home.      The funeral service was at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20 at the Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Pleasant Grove with the Rev. Harry F. Hollingsworth officiating. Burial was in Prairie Grove Cemetery in West Burlington. A memorial has been established to the Des Moines County 4-H Fair Fund.

Ruby B. Ballou, 77, of Mt. Pleasant, died on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at the Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.      A memorial funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the Weir Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Jeff McPheron of the Trenton United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 21 at the funeral home. Desiree Osier and Brandon Schmitter, of Batavia, celebrated the birth of their daughter, Meadow Aleah Schmitter, on Jan. 24, 2017, at Henry County Health Center.She weighed five pounds, 14 ounces, and was 18-inches long at birth.She was welcomed home by her siblings, Chasity, Sophia and Kenzie Schmitter.
