Ethel L. VanTrump, 93, formerly of Moline, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at St. Anthony?s Continuing Care Center in Rock Island, Ill.      The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Trimble Funeral Home in Moline, Ill, with her granddaughter the Rev. Marsha Acord officiating. Visitation will begin an hour before the service. Private burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline, Ill.

Ila Mae Kyle of Salem, Ore., died Dec. 22, 2000.      Mrs. Kyle was the daughter of George and Leola Hotle. She married William D. Kyle.      She is survived by one son, Larry Kyle of Oregon; three daughters, Georgia Judd, Mary Lynn Long and Caroline Bailey, all of Oregon; one sister, Mrs. Werner M. Lowry of Washington; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Janice Rowe Bates, 63, died on Dec. 21, 2000, in Houston, Texas.      The funeral service was held in Houston on Dec. 28. Memorials have been established for the Life Flight program and can be sent to David Bates, 2222 Briar Creek Blvd., Houston, Texas 77073.      Mrs. Bates was born June 20, 1937, in Burlington, the daughter of William and Edna Rowe. She was a flight nurse for Life Flight at Hermann Hospital.     

James F. McKean, 87, of Mt. Pleasant, died at 1 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at Henry County Health Center.      The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. James Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield. Open visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 11, from noon to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be no family visitation.

Bobby Gene Bryan, 62, of Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at his home after a long illness.      The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Walter Graffam officiating. Burial will be in the Keokuk National Cemetery. Open visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, at the funeral home. Lester Vaught Smith, 83, of Fort Madison and previously of Burlington and Denmark, died at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at the Fort Madison Community Hospital.      The family inurnment of the cremains will be at a later date in the Edwards Cemetery in Oakville. Emily Griebel, 99, of Sargent, Neb., died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at Sandhills Manor Nursing Home in Broken Bow, Neb.Funeral services were held Jan. 2, 2001, at the Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow, Neb., with the Rev. Don Schauda officiating. Burial was in the Broken Bow Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Sargent High School Scholarship Fund.

Agnes J. Russell, 89, of Mt. Pleasant, died at 9:20 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center of Farmington, Mo.      The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Weir Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Jeffrey Crawford of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Visitation with the family present will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
