Panther wrestlers prepare for season
The Mt. Pleasant wrestling team took to the mat this week for the start of practice.In the photo, Alex Lanphier, left, and Tyler Lanphier work on takedowns in their Tuesday-afternoon practice.The wrestling season officially begins on Monday, Dec. 2, and the Panthers will begin competition on Thursday, Dec. 5, at Columbus Junction.They will host Keokuk in their home opener on Thursday, Dec. 12.

Mt. Pleasant?s Jordan Ashton played in his first collegiate basketball game on Sunday for the NCAA DII Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats.The Bearcats defeated Graceland University of Lamoni by a score of 95-57 in the exhibition contest.As a redshirt freshman, Ashton played nine minutes and went 2-for-4 from the field for a total of five points.
