Panthers finish first half with easy win versus Wolves
The Pekin boys' basketball team hosted SEISC foe Winfield-Mt. Dancing into second place
InMotion, the Mt. Pleasant High School show choir, competed at Ft. Madison and placed second in the finals after taking first place in class 3A in the preliminary session. The winner was Southeast Polk, followed by Mt. Pleasant, Des Moines Christian, Ottumwa, Southeast Polk's prep group and Danville.

New London property taxes to raise one-cent from last year

Pleasant News New London residents will see an ever so slight increase in property taxes for fiscal year 2019.Tuesday night the New London City Council approved a property tax rate of $11.94943 per $1,000 valuation. Salem brush fire
Firefighters work to put out a brush fire that spread to a vehicle at 1993 310th St. in Mt. Pleasant. Officials said that the property owner was burning trash when the wind got ahold of the fire and spread to grass and hay bails. The fire department contained the fire for a couple hours while the untouched hay bails were moved to a protected area.
