Rural road to be closed
A portion of Nebraska Avenue will close Wednesday, Oct. 4, for construction purposes, according to the Henry County Engineer's Office.Nebraska Avenue, located east of Mt. Pleasant, will be closed between 230th and 235th streets for the replacement of two box culverts. Car strikes deer on Franklin Avenue
A car-deer accident Sept. 22 in the 2500 grid of Franklin Avenue resulted in $6,000 damage to the vehicle.The Henry County Sheriff's Office reported that a 2016 Chevrolet, operated by Afton Engberg of Mt. Pleasant was traveling south on Franklin Avenue where the vehicle struck a deer in the roadway.No injuries were reported.

Farm fresh food
Main Street Mt. Pleasant sponsored its first ?Farm to Table? dinner Saturday night in Central Park. Seating was limited to 50 guests. The event offered locally grown and produced food and beverages. A band comprised of local musicians provided dinner-time music. Although the mercury was in the high 80s, shade and a cool breeze made for a good evening to dine outside.
