Easter Eggstravaganza this Saturday
Join Main Street Mt. Pleasant for their Easter Eggstravaganza this Saturday, March 28 at 11 a.m., in Mt. Pleasant Central Park.This annual event includes a visit from the Easter Bunny and an Easter Egg Hunt in Mt. Pleasant's downtown Central Park. The event is sponsored by Mt. Pleasant's Park and Recreation Department and the Mt. Pleasant Area Manufacturers Association.

Advance to state competition
Winfield-Mt. Union?s jazz band qualified for the Iowa State Jazz Championships in Des Moines March 31. The W-MU band gained the berth at district competition March 7 at Iowa City West. W-MU placed second in its division, behind last year?s Class 1A champion North Mahaska. This will be the fifth consecutive apperance at state for the band.

Van Buren, Washington dominate All-GTNS team
Several of the best baseball teams in the state came from southeast Iowa this summer. Washington made it to the state semifinals in Class 3A. Van Buren went 26-2, with its only two losses coming at the hands of eventual state champion Davis County.
