Crooked Creek Days
Winfield hosted its annual Crooked Creek celebration over the weekend. The theme was ?Mardi Gras.? One of the floats in the parade was this one from Caseys General Store.

Looking good
Southeast Iowa?s corn and soybean crops received a boost in recent days as the area received its first significant rainfall in weeks. Not only will the rain benefit crops, but it also has put the green back into lawns and pastures. City lawns had been showing stress from a hot spell during July.

Driver involved in accident turns himself in
A male turned himself in to the Mt. Pleasant Police Thursday for his involvement in a hit and run incident yesterday morning, according to Lt. Lyle Murray of the department. Mt. Pleasant's Police Department is searching for a newer model, candy-apple red Ford F-150 pickup that allegedly struck a pedestrian in downtown Mt.
