Artistic talents on display

Winter driving can be an adventure
A long winter has led to numerous vehicle accidents. This semi had difficulty negotiating the exit ramp from U.S. Highway 218 Tuesday near the ramp?s intersection with East Washington Street. No other information was available from the accident as of presstime Wednesday.

Utilities board meeting Tuesday
Trustees of the Mt. Pleasant Municipal Utilities will receive updates on the Grand Avenue LED street-lighting and Union Block upgrade projects during their regular monthly meeting Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the utilities office.Other tentative agenda items include a well #6 repair project upgrade.

Accident claims Mediapolis man
BURLINGTON ? A Mediapolis man was killed in a one-vehicle accident Feb. 1, according to the Des Moines County Sheriff?s Office.Michael Loyal Butler, 51, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Dan Allen Miller, 46, Mediapolis, according to the press release.The accident happened at approximately 1 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 61 and Memorial Park Road.Butler was pronounced dead at the scene and ...
