Utilities to host special meeting
Trustees of the Mt. Pleasant Municipal Utilities will continue discussion on a proposed new water rate structure during a special meeting Tuesday, July 24, at 5 p.m. at the utilities office.The meeting will be preceded by a 4 p.m. work session to review the proposal to increase water rates and meter charges over a three-year period, beginning Oct. 1, 2012.A public hearing on the matter is set for 5:15 p.m. July 24.

Henry County Republican Women meet
The Henry County Republican Women met on June 11, at Sunrise Terrace in Winfield.Devotions were given by Carol Messer. President Sandra Kongable conducted the meeting. Oops
A severed natural gas line gave employees of the Mt. Pleasant News an unexpected morning break today. Crews replacing the sanitary sewer line in the alley struck a gas line at approximately 9:15 a.m. Not only was the News building evacuated but adjacent buildings and apartments as well. The evacuation lasted about 45 minutes.

Relay for Life scheduled Saturday at IWC
Henry County?s Relay for Life will be tomorrow (June 23) on the campus of Iowa Wesleyan Collge from noon until midnight.Survivor lunch will be at 11 a.m. and the luminaria ceremony at 8 p.m.Bands will be performing and there will be other entertainment during the event.
