Pat Carson

Pat Carson, 75, of Chariton, died May 5, 2017, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

She was born August 30, 1941 in Washington County, the daughter of Elmer and Faith Young. She grew up in the Washington area and graduated from West Chester High School in 1959. She married to William Carson at the Rose Hill Church on October 4, 1959.

She worked several retail jobs and after moving to Chariton in 1974, she worked at Spurgeons, Pipers, and the Hy-Vee Bakery in addition to raising her children. She loved to visit and make new friends, wherever she went she would strike up a conversation. She was very active and loved to walk. Pat loved to be outside working in the yard and garden. Her greatest joy was her family and cherished every moment with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband; children: Jeff (Lori) Carson of Canton, Illinois and Janiene (Andy) Sotter of Chariton; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Charlotte Lemley, Brigham Young, Sylvia Miller, Jim Young, and Viola Karr; sisters-in-law, Mary Meeks and Christine Carson; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
