Pat L. Palmer, age 83, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the Washington County Hospital.

Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 20, 2023, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Darryl Carr officiating. Calling hours will begin 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Interment with military honors will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery. Pat was born March 29, 1940, Macy, Indiana, the son of Jesse C. and Sandra Kay (Rinearson) Palmer. Pat served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1957 until 1977.

He was united in marriage to Helga Horn on May 2, 1962, in Macon, Georgia.

Pat and Helga lived in Massachusetts, England, and Wyoming before moving to Iowa in 1978.

He worked at Perfex/Modine Mfg. for twenty years until his retirement. Pat enjoyed fishing and watching Science Fiction movies.

He is survived by his son, Ron Palmer and wife Clara of Ainsworth, Iowa; grandchildren, Chelsea Palmer of Washington, Iowa, and Dustin Palmer of Coppock, Iowa; as well as several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Sandra Palmer; brother, Bill (Teresa) Palmer; sister, Lana (Dennis) Thornburg; brother, Scott (Sheila) Palmer; and brother, Kenneth (Michelle) Palmer.

Pat was preceded in death by his father; wife Helga in 2022; and brother, Clyde Kirk Palmer.
