Private family interment will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, IA. Jones Eden Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Patricia Patterson was born February 17, 1929, to Robert and Jean Patterson in Washington, Iowa. She was raised there, along with her sister Nancy, by their loving parents. Her aunts and uncles, along with cousins Sara Lu, Frannie and Frank Miller, contributed to her treasured upbringing in Washington. She attended local public schools, graduating from Washington High School in 1947, where she served as Senior Class president and was the first homecoming queen elected after World War II.
Patty attended Grinnell College and graduated from Colorado College in Colorado Springs where she studied fine arts and interior design. Patty’s first marriage was to James Harrison in 1950. Her second marriage was to George Dimock in 1960. They lived in Lafayette, LA, Wichita Falls and Dallas, TX, and Colorado Springs, CO.
Patty was a gifted artist with an adventurous spirit. She traveled the world and returned home to paint her memories. She took to the skies as a licensed pilot, skied the mountains of Idaho and Colorado and sailed and fished off the shores of Florida and the Bahamas. Her passions included dogs, horses and gardening. She loved her family and visited with them often, delighting them with tales of her intriguing adventures.
Patty is survived by her nieces and nephews, Laith Shamdin of Cedar Rapids, IA, Sannia (Mike) Mollman of Sun City West, AZ, Nancy (Joel) Rizor of Punta Gorda, FL, Robert (Elaine) Shamdin of Mattoon, IL; and eight grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Dimock; parents, Robert and Jean Patterson; sister, Nancy Townsend; and devoted German Shepherd Brawny.
In lieu of flowers, her family suggests a donation to your favorite animal charity or Compassus Hospice Care of Colorado Springs.
