Patrick McCormick, 64, of Mount Pleasant, died Friday, Nov. 5, 2021, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. In his final months, the family cherished the time they were able to spend with him.

Patrick was born Nov. 22, 1956, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, the son of Donald and Louise (Burns) McCormick. He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1975. Patrick was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Mount Pleasant had been Patrick's home his entire life. Pat was dedicated to farming the land originated from his great-grandfather in 1868. Patrick enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. Above all else, he loved to farm.

Patrick is survived by 10 siblings, Ann (John) Link of McCall, Idaho, Phil (Chris) McCormick of Mount Pleasant, John (Denise) McCormick of Mount Pleasant, Jane (Jim) Coughlin of Boise, Idaho, Mary (Gunther Hega) McCormick of Kalamazoo, Mich., Kathleen Rose of DeForest, Wis., Barbara (Jeff) Wettach of Decorah, Martha (Timothy) Huser of Sac City, Margaret (Mark) Gardon of Green Bay, Wis., and Christina (Joe) Hunting of Rochester, Ind.; brother-in-law, Larry Peetz of Omaha, Neb.; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sara Peetz; and a brother-in-law, David Rose.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mount Pleasant. Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made in Pat's honor to a charity of your choice.
