Paul C. Harms, 87, of Swedesburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield.
The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Philip Borleske officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at the Honts Funeral Home in Winfield. There will be no family visitation. Burial will be in the Swedesburg Church Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Swedesburg Church.
Mr. Harms was born December 7, 1913, at Allison, the son of Henry and Altja Hoodjer Harms. He married Illene G. Benson April 11, 1954, at Swedesburg. He graduated from Shell Rock High School and the Iowa State Teachers College. He served in the Air Force during World War II as a physical training instructor and farmed in the Swedesburg area until retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a sister, Gertrude Jerolman of Waverly, a brother, Jim Harms of Shell Rock, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two brothers, three sisters, and five half-brothers.
