KALONA ? Paul Howard Hochstedler, 90, of Kalona, died Friday, July 22, 2016, in the Pleasantview Home in Kalona.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, at the Salem Mennonite Church in rural Keota. Burial will be in the Salem Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m., Monday, July 25, at the church. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Washington County and Caribbean Light and Truth. The Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Hochstedler was born May 29, 1926, in Kalona, the son of Emmet and Annie (Yoder) Hochstedler. He married Mary A. Yoder on Jan. 6, 1951, in LaGrange County, Indiana.
He farmed and did mission work in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Belize, Arkansas, and Missouri before retiring to Kalona in 2008. He was a faithful member of the Salem Mennonite Church. He was a man of prayer and was always concerned for others.
Surviving are his wife, Mary, of Kalona; one daughter, Gloria Hochstedler of Kalona; and two brothers, Eldon Hochstedler and wife Edna of Cleveland, Ohio, and Calvin Hochstedler and wife Shirley of Kalona.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dale Hochstedler, and Henry Hochstedler; and two sisters, Ellen Hochstedler, and Elva Hochstedler.
