Paul Hoyle, 77, of Fairfield, passed away Saturday, Aug. 29, 2020, at Jefferson County Health Center. Open visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Behner Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the visitation. Graveside memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at Wright Cemetery with words of comfort from Jason Crandall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or to donors choice. Cards and memorials may be mailed to Karen Hoyle, 2417 200th Street, Fairfield, IA 52556.
Paul was born Feb. 27, 1943, to Dwight and Louise (Cady) Hoyle in Washington County. He married Karen Garretson at the First Baptist Church on March 15, 1964. This year they celebrated 56 years of marriage.
Paul graduated from Fairfield High School, Class of 1961. He was a farmer and retired from Jefferson County Road Department. Paul enjoyed working on tractors, attending Old Threshers and his favorite farm tractor was John Deere. He belonged to a coffee club but most important was spending time with his family.
He will be missed by his wife, Karen; son, Edward Paul Hoyle; his siblings, Gene (Lori) Hoyle, Glen (Jane) Hoyle, Marilyn (Dick) Martin, Kathryn (Dick) Newman, Donna (Beryl) Rugg and Wayne (Amy) Hoyle; sisters-in-law, Kay Hoyle and Carol Hoyle Galbraith; and several nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Louise; brothers, Delbert and Larry; sisters, Bertha and infant sister, Luella; his in-laws, Eugene and Mildred Garretson; sister-in-law, Mary Kessel Garretson; brother-in-law, Horst Joos; and nieces and nephews.
