Paul Otto Timmerman November 7, 1912 - July 4, 2003

      Paul Otto Timmerman, 90, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of the Mt. Union Community, died on Friday, July 4, 2003, at the Arbor Court in Mt. Pleasant, following declining health.

      The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, with the Revs. Mike Shafer of the Mt. Union Methodist Church and Bob Hary officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon on Tuesday, July 8 at the funeral home, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and two hours prior to the Wednesday funeral service. Memorials have been established to the local chapter of the American Cancer Society and to the Old Threshers Foundation.

      Survivors include his wife; a son, David and his wife Karen Timmerman of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Janet Sue Timmerman and her husband Keith Brookhart of Muscatine; a stepdaughter, Lavon Timmerman Greenfield and her husband Ray Kaufman of Mt. Pleasant; a stepson Daryl and his wife Dianne Timmerman of Derby, Kan.; two sisters, Marie Gates of Fort Madison and Edith Barnes and husband Jake Day of Mt. Pleasant; and three grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren.

      In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Roy, Carl, Orvil, Glen and Guey; and a sister, Margaret Remick.
