Pauline M. Smith, 85, of Mt. Pleasant died at 1:05 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at the Mapleleaf Care Center.

The memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Edward R. Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at the Beatty Funeral Home. A memorial has been established.

Mrs. Smith was born November 23, 1914, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Wilbur and Myrtle Boyd Mallams. She was married to Gerald Smith. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a manager of many grocery stores.

Survivors include a son, Boyd Smith of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Janice Sue Smith of Findlay, Ohio; and a stepdaughter, Virginia Haines of Winfield. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
