Pearl Sylvia Hickenbottom
Pearl Sylvia Hickenbottom, 100, of Fairfield, died 4:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at Jefferson County Hospital.
The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, at the Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Elliott officiating. Burial will be in the Lockridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 6, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Behner Funeral Home with the family present. Memorials may be made to the Lockridge Cemetery Association.
Mrs. Hickenbotham was born Sept. 20, 1900 in Van Buren County, the daughter of John William Drew and Sarah Elizabeth Johnson Green. She married Ralph Merton Hickenbottom July 2, 1921, in Ottumwa. She had lived in Fairfield since 1938, and before that in Biggsville, Ill. She was a member of Rebecca Lodge #386 in Fairfield, L.E.A. Auxiliary #6 in Fairfield, Ladies Auxiliary Patriarch Military in Ottumwa and Odd Fellows Lodge and Encampment.
Survivors include five grandchildren, among them Connie Casteel of Mt. Pleasant, 12 great-granchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a stepdaughter Hazel; two sons, Raymond and Harry Ray and a stillborn son; two sisters, Mamie Towne and Marjorie Clark; and two brothers, Charlie and King Green.
