Pedro Vazquez Gonzalez, age 63, of Ainsworth, IA, died Wednesday, Apr. 26, 2023, in rural Louisa County from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 5, 2023, at St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Bernie Weir officiating. Calling hours will begin at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2023, at St. James Catholic Church where the family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Prayer services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at St. James. Interment will take place at the Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth, IA.

Pedro was born Oct. 11, 1959, in Morelos, Mexico, the son of Roberto Vazquez and Leonarda Gonzalez. Pedro has lived in Iowa for the past 34 years and previously lived in Chicago. He worked as a Foreman for Hogslats Inc. in Washington. Pedro was raised in the Catholic Faith and attended St. James Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with family and friends and his dog, Ruby. Pedro enjoyed entertaining and was a “grill master”. He especially enjoyed the time spent with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Roberto Vazquez of Phoenix, AZ; son, Mark Antonio Vazquez of Kalona, IA; son Jason Vazquez and wife Jaclyn of Ft. Knox, KY; daughter, Kassandra Marie Vazquez of Shalimar, Florida; daughter, Nadia Vazquez of West Liberty, IA; and 8 grandchildren. Pedro is also survived by his sister Sabina Vazquez of Chicago, IL; sister, Catalina Vazquez of Washington, IA; brother, Nicolas Vazquez and wife Justina of Washington, IA; sister, Candelaria Lopez and husband Jose of Columbus Junction, IA; brother, Martin Vazquez and wife Martha of Bloomington, IL; brother, Felipe Vazquez and wife Margarita of Wapello, IA; sister, Gloria Vazquez and husband Oscar of Chicago, IL; as well numerous nieces and nephews.

Pedro was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Benita Castrejon.
