KALONA ? Philip Eli Nisly, 59, of Kalona, died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at his son?s home in San Diego, California.
A celebration of life service will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 27, at Shiloh, 100 Shiloh Drive, Kalona, Iowa 52247.
Mr. Nisly was born July 11, 1957, in Kalona, the son of Reuben and Mamie (Miller) Nisly.
He diligently served those around him throughout his life. He was many things to many people, but his favorite role was being a father. He loved his children and delighted in watching them grow and succeed, continuously telling them that he was ?the richest man in the world? because he got to be their dad. He was a hard worker, who poured countless hours into his businesses, but he also loved to have fun. It was his delight to spend time with his family and friends playing games, fishing, camping, canoeing, and going on road trips. He was known for his strength, perseverance, faith, creativity, joy, and selflessness.
Surviving are three children, Corin Nisly, Bristen Penniman and husband David, and Mamie Gesen King and husband Matthew; his mother, Mamie; and four siblings, John Nisly, Simon Nisly, Miriam Hilton, and James Nisly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Reuben; two sisters, Mary Leedy, and Sarah Eicher; and one son, Lanson Nisly.
