Philip Edward Denney Sr.

      Philip Edward Denney, Sr., 60, of Hickory, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2007 at his residence.

      Born on September 24, 1947 in Fairfield, Iowa, he was the son of Robert Edward Denney of Ellenboro, NC and the late Alma Jones Denney.

      The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at First Presbyterian Church, 237 2nd St., NW, Hickory, NC 28601, with the Rev. Dr. Wallace Johnson and the Rev. Deborah McEachran officiating. Burial will follow on Thursday at 2:00 PM in the cemetery at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 1302 Mt. Pleasant Church Rd., Mooresboro, NC 28114.

      A memorial service will be planned in Fairfield at a later date.

      The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Bass-Smith Funeral Home, 334 2nd St., NW, Hickory, NC 28601.
