Phyllis A. Sheetz

MONTEZUMA ? Phyllis Ann Sheetz, 80, of Montezuma died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015, in the Montezuma Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 2, at the Montezuma United Methodist Church. Visitation was held from 9 until 11 a.m., Nov. 2 at the church. Burial was at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorial contributions may be made to the Montezuma United Methodist Church. Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sheetz was born Dec. 9, 1934, in Howell, Michigan, the daughter of Fredrick and Claire (Schneider) Prange. She married Ronald Dean Sheetz on April 19, 1958, in Arlington, Virginia.

She graduated from high school in Madison, Wisconsin, and then graduated from Secretarial School in Madison, Wisconsin. She then worked in Washington, D.C., for Congressman John Byrnes. She and her husband moved to Montezuma in 1971. She worked at the Poweshiek County Extension Service until retirement in 2000. She was a member of the Montezuma United Methodist Church, Piecemakers, and Order of Eastern Star.

Surviving are three children, Christine Sheetz of Montezuma, Mary Sheetz Ellis of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Dean Sheetz of Dubai, UAE; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred Prange; one sister-in-law, Patricia Bagley; one aunt; and many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron; her parents; one sister-in-law; and one brother-in-law.
