Phyllis Geraldine “Dee Dee” Sauter was born February 24, 1936, near Millersburg, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Elroy & Marguerite Anne (Dietze) King. She graduated from Millersburg High School in 1954. On June 15, 1957, Dee Dee was united in marriage to Gerald Kevin Sauter at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Millersburg. She spent her days helping Kevin on the farm and being a loving and devoted mother. Dee Dee was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in North English and served on the Altar & Rosary committee. She volunteered with the American Heart Association and senior dining. She enjoyed coffee & donuts, bowling, painting, antiques, playing cards, doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their events. Dee Dee died on Monday, December 16, 2024, at the age of 88 years.
She is survived by five children Shari (Dann) Harwood of Norway, Julie (Don) Meyer of Deep River, Amy (Steve) Greene of Deep River, Jerry (Shannon) Sauter of New River, Arizona and Joe (Erika) Sauter of Williamsburg; thirteen grandchildren, twenty one great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; a sister Jacqueline Stoltzfus; two brothers Terry Allen and Charles “Chuck” King; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her parents; husband; grandson Matthew Agnew; and a brother Ricky Allen.
Memorial Mass was held 10:30 am on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in North English. Visitation was held Saturday, from 9 am until service time. Burial will be held at a later date in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Millersburg. A general memorial fund has been established. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
