Phyllis Jean Alter

Phyllis Jean Alter, 85, of North Liberty and formerly of Burlington, died at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at Lunning Chapel in Burlington. The funeral service for Mrs. Alter will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 27, in Lunning Chapel. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for Zion United Church of Christ Building and Grounds Fund and North Liberty Volunteer Fire Department.

Born April 17, 1923, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Albert E. and Emma A. Stoerzbach Parmeter. On Dec. 25, 1941, she married Edward Frederick Alter in Burlington. He preceded her in death on May 27, 2002.
