Polly Jane Mauck

Polly Jane Mauck, 77, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday, July 11 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

      A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21 in the PEO Memorial Rooms at Iowa Wesleyan College. Memorials may be made to Iowa Wesleyan College to benefit the PEO Memorial Rooms. McLaren's Chapel in West Des Moines is in charge of arrangements.

      Mrs. Mauck was born July 22, 1926, in Hannibal and grew up in Perry, Mo. She married Joe Mauck June 7, 1952. He preceded her in death. She attended Culver Stockton College and met her husband there. She was graduate of Culver Stockton College, where she was president of Chi Omega sorority. She taught school in Perry, Kansas City and St. Joseph, Mo. She and her husband moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1962, where he was a professor at Iowa Wesleyan College and she taught in the medical assistant program at Southeastern Community College. During her years in Mt. Pleasant, she was a gracious hostess for many social gatherings at her East Washington Street home. She was active in many organizations, including serving as president of Questers, Iowa DD Chapter of TTT and Chapter Original A of PEO.

      Survivors include two sons, Randy and his wife Lisa Mauck of Detroit, Mich., and Kent and his wife Sheila Mauck of Des Moines; and five grandchildren.
