R. Hollis Lauderdale

R. Hollis Lauderdale, 94, of Winfield, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, at Sunrise Terrace Care Center.

Friends may call Monday, Sept. 1 from 9-10 a.m. at the Honts Funeral Home in Winfield, where the family will greet friends at this time. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Honts Funeral Home, with Rev. William Morehouse officiating. Interment will follow at the Conesville Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for the Winfield Public Library and Sunrise Terrace Care Center.

The son of Jasper and Minnie (Lamar) Lauderdale, he was born Sept. 1, 1912 at Dale, Ind. On Oct. 23, 1937 he married Winifred Whitaker at Brighton.

He was a graduate of the Conesville High School. He farmed in the Conesville area and later for Tom Huston in the Wyman community. He also worked at Rath Packing Plant. He was a member of the Moose Club and Ducks Unlimited and enjoyed anything to do with Winfield Wolves.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald Lauderdale and his friend Georgia of Tempe, Ariz. and Richard and Cathy Lauderdale of Winfield; one daughter, Mary and Harold Sens of Tonto Basin, Ariz.; six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren; one sister Fae Whitaker of Tonto Basin, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, four sisters and an infant sister.
