R. Norman Bell

R. Norman Bell, 63, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of the Salem area, died unexpectedly Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

      The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1 at Salem Friends Church in Salem, with the Revs. Tom Palmer and Lewis Savage officiating. Burial will be in Salem South Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Condolences may be sent online to www.beattyfh.com. A memorial has been established for scholarships to Quakerdale.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Richard Bell of Coralville; a daughter, Kathleen and her husband Thomas Pena of Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren; a brother, Ron Bell of Monticello, Ill; and a sister, Shirley Bell of Lake Barrington, Ill.

      He was preceded in death by his parents.
