Ralph Eugene 'Smitty' Smithhart

June 23, 1936 - December 29, 2017

Ralph Eugene "Smitty" Smithhart, 81, of Washington passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017, at the Pearl Valley Rehab Center in Washington.

Ralph was born on June 23, 1936, the son of Albert Lewis and Ada Clara Horning Smithhart. Ralph enjoyed horses and lived a free spirted life. He was of the Methodist faith.

Ralph is survived by his sisters: Joyce (Ron) Dorothy and Virginia Butcher both of Mt. Pleasant, Peggy (Gurvis) Volner and Margaret (Ted) Schinstock both of Salem; along with many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Beatrice Thornton; two brothers-in-law, Jay Hawbaker and Donald Thornton; three nieces: Jody Volner, Terry Thornton and Teresa Thornton; and one nephew, Bradley Butcher.

According to his wishes cremation has been entrusted to the Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant and services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Lending Hands of Washington or to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in his memory.
