Randy Bitting, 67, of Crawfordsville, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at his residence.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Spring Run Church, 24484 90th St., Columbus Junction, Iowa. Inurnment will be held at
Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Following the committal service, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Spring Run Church. Randy Duane Bitting was born February 14, 1954, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Marlen and Betty (Hall) Bitting. He graduated from Winfield High School and from Truman State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Journalism.
Randy worked for the Walmart Warehouse Distribution Center in Mt. Pleasant for many years. He had previously worked in journalism and in education as a teacher, substitute teacher and wrestling referee. He was a member of Spring Run Church where he served as Treasurer. Randy was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan and he enjoyed collecting antique banks and weight lifting with his "fit family."
Randy will be deeply missed by his siblings, Myron (Jeanne) Bitting of Simi Valley, CA, Louella (Alan) Ferguson of Newbury Park, CA, David (Jane) Bitting of New London, IA, Lyndle (Roberta) Bitting of Keokuk, IA, Mark (Sharla) Bitting of Ft. Madison, IA, and Debra Cooper (Ken Dehon) of Ft. Myers, FL; and eleven nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three nephews, Jamey Briscoe, Jason Bitting and Brian Larson.
