Ray 'Ed' McWhirter

      Ray "Ed" McWhirter, 78, of Batavia, died Sunday, March 2, 2008, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

      A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Danny Cary officiating. Following the service, the body will be cremated, and burial of the cremains will be at a later date.

      Family visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

      Mr. McWhirter was born May 8, 1929, in Fairfield, the son of Ray and Mary McCormick McWhirter. He married Betty Farquhar in 1951. He later married Louise Baker in 1980.
