Ray I. Marner Jr.

      LONE TREE-Ray I. Marner Jr., 82, of Iowa City, died Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, following a lengthy illness.

      A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 18, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lone Tree, with the Rev. Michael Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery with military rites accorded by Lone Tree American Legion Post No. 457. Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 3 to 5:30 p.m., with a 5:30 p.m. wake service, at Sorden-Lewis Funeral Home in Lone Tree. Memorials may be directed to St. Wenceslaus Parish of Iowa City, St. Mary's Parish of Lone Tree, or Hospice of Iowa City.

      Mr. Marner was born on Oct. 29, 1922, in Kalona, to Ray I. and Lydia (Miller) Marner. On Feb. 14, 1948, he married LaVonne Gaffney in Iowa City.
