RAYMOND A. KAUFMAN
Mount Pleasant
Raymond A. Kaufman, 89, of Mount Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at Park Place Elder Living Center in Mount Pleasant.
Raymond was born on March 12, 1931, on the family farm south of Wayland, Iowa, the son of Andy and Hazel (Conrad) Kaufman. He was united in marriage to LaVon Greenfield on Dec. 26, 2000, at the First Assembly of God Church in Mount Pleasant.
He enjoyed mushroom hunting, deer hunting, cutting wood, raising pigeons and chickens, junking but, most of all, spending time with his family. Raymond worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown and later at Chain and Cable in Fairfield. Raymond was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Mount Pleasant.
He is survived by his wife, LaVon of Mount Pleasant; and his children, Terry (Bonnie) Kaufman of Mount Pleasant, Sherry Kaufman of Rapid City, Ill., Ken (Diane) Kaufman and Dennis Kaufman, both of Wayland, Crystal Kaufman of St. Petersburg, Fla., Andy (Hugh) Emerson of Columbia, Mo., Carman Kaufman of Denmark and Holley Kaufman of Denver, Colo.; along with several adopted and stepchildren, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Louise Pieper of West Point and Lois Fields of Riverside; one brother, Robert Kaufman of West Point.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Mike Kaufman; a stepson, Danny Kaufman; and one brother, Leroy Kaufman.
A private family service will be held on Tuesday, June 2, at the First Assembly of God Church in Mount Pleasant, with Pastor Don Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. The family will not be present. Memorials may be directed to the Fellowship Cup of Mount Pleasant in his memory.
