Raymond C. Oetken July 1, 1919 - July 17, 2005

Raymond C. Oetken, 86, of Burlington, died at 9:23 a.m. Sunday, July 17 at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

      The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 21 at Oak Street Baptist Church in Burlington, with the Revs. Jason Unzicker and Martin Lehmann officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by Veterans Honor Guard of VFW Posts 9162 and 10102, American Legion Post 52, Hamilton-Walters Marine Corps League and AMVETS Post 29 will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 20 at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial has been established to the Mediapolis fire and rescue unit.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, Mark Oetken and Jeffrey Oetken, both of New London, Larry Oetken of rural Burlington, David Oetken of rural Mt. Pleasant, and Tim Oetken of Mediapolis; a daughter, Debra Oetken of Tucson, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Oetken and Helen Oetken, both of Burlington; and two brothers, Alfred Oetken of Burlington, and Robert Oetken of rural Danville.

      He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
