Raymond Joseph Winnike, 73, of West Point, died at 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, 2005, at his home.
The Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point with the Rev. Apo Mpanda as celebrant. Burial with full military rites by the West Point American Legion will be in Calvary Cemetery in West Point. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9 at the Link Funeral Home in West Point, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. There will be a wake service at 7 p.m. A memorial has been established to the West Point Community Public Library Foundation.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mary Rae and her husband Bill Dyer of Omaha, Neb., and Jacki and her husband Jerry Holtkamp of New London; two sons, Steve and his wife Janeen Winnike of Long Grove and Brad and his wife Kayla Winnike of Clive; 10 grandchildren; four sisters, Marcella McKinley and Generose Winnike, both of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Lucene Gintz of Rochester, Minn., and Mary Agnes and her husband Bill Cosselman of Denver; a brother, Leroy Winnike of Denver; two brothers-in-law, Max and his wife Jean Beavers of Mt. Pleasant, and Fred and his wife Barb Otte of Fort Madison; and three sisters-in-law, Mardelle Hayes of Moline, Ill., Yvonne and her husband Allan Carter of Pontiac, Ill., and Judy and her husband Jerry Lyphout of East Moline, Ill.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Clementine Beavers and Evelyn McKeowen.
