Raymond "Ray" Edward Engle, age 73, of Fairfield, passed away Friday, July 30, 2021, at The University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics.

Visitation for family and friends will be 5 p.m. to

7 p.m., Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Behner Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 6, 2021, at Behner Funeral Home, with Pastor Gary VanNyhuis officiating. Cremation will follow the service.

Memorials may be made to the family and mailed to Dixie Engle, 1017 Grand Park Drive, Fairfield, IA 52556.

Ray was born July 8, 1948, to Harold and Gladys (McCorkel) Engle Sr. He married Dixie Silvers on December 19, 1975, in Fairfield. This year they would have celebrated 46 years of marriage.

Ray served in the Army during the Vietnam War. Worked several years at Falco as a machine operator. Ray and Dixie were managers of the Catfish Place in Fairfield for 20 years until it sold. Ray liked to scrap and junk, fishing, boating, camping, gardening especially tomatoes and mushroom hunting. Most of all, he loved his kids, grandkids and great-grandchild.

Ray will be missed by his wife, Dixie of Fairfield; Ruby (Christopher) Krouse of Fairfield, Angela (Josh) Dye of Douds and Amanda (Justin) Gazaway of Kansas City, KS; eight grandchildren, Colyier Boese, Hunter Boese, Lane Dye, Xander Dye, Paige McCoy, Tayia McCoy, Breanna Reinier and Cody Gazaway; one great-grandson, Houston Bennett; his siblings, Donna Engle of Georgia and Harold Engle Jr. of Salina, IA; and his dog, Missey May.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Gladys; and one daughter, Angel (She was Angie's twin).
