Raymond "Ray" Roy Nebel, 88, of Washington, passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019, at the United Presbyterian Home. A Celebration of Life service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at the Eicher Mennonite church in Wayland with Pastor Dave Schooley officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to service. An open visitation will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. Burial will follow the service.

A memorial fund has been established for the Eicher Mennonite church.

Raymond Nebel was born Feb. 26, 1931, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Daniel and Alice (Roth) Nebel. Ray attended Washington High School. He enlisted into the U.S. Navy and later went into the Airforce for 21 years. Ray did everything with his wife Joyce, they enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping together. He also helped his father-in-law farm. Later, Ray became very active with the Eicher Mennonite Church.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Joyce Nebel of Washington; son, Michael (Marina) Nebel of Ottumwa; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Milton Nebel, Lorene Meyer, Dale Nebel, Katheryn Stoops, Bill Nebel and Jimmy Nebel.
