Rev. Donald Waldschmidt

      RIVERSIDE-Rev. Donald Waldschmidt, 80, of Riverside, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona, of cancer.

      A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside, with the Rev. William Franklin officiating. Concelebrants will be the Rev. John Hyland, the Rev. Rich Adam, the Rev. Eugene Benda, the Rev. Thomas Chamberlain and the Rev. Lou Leonhardt. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Following services at the cemetery, a luncheon will be held at the church. Visitation will be today from 3 to 8 p.m., at the church, with a Rosary said 4 p.m. and a 7:30 p.m. prayer service. Memorials may be directed to the Priest Aide Society of Davenport Dioceses, St. Mary's Catholic Church of Riverside or Iowa City Hospice. Sorden-Lewis Funeral Home of Riverside is in charge of arrangements.

      Rev. Waldschmidt was born on Dec. 14, 1922, in Riverside, to Lewis G. and Alice (O'Brien) Waldschmidt.
