Reverend Dr. James H. Huston, age 56, of Wilton, Iowa, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2024 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 27, 2024 at Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 28, 2024 at First Presbyterian Church, Wilton. Online condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com
James was born in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa on April 2, 1968, the son of Gary and Donna (Smith) Huston. He graduated from Winfield-Mt. Union High School with the Class of 1986. After earning his Bachelor’s degree from Buena Vista University, Jim proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He married Sherry Samuelson on August 8, 1998 in Wilton. Jim continued his education, earning an MBA from Drake University in 2000 and a degree from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary in 2004.
Since 2019, he faithfully led the congregation at Sugar Creek Presbyterian Church in Wilton. From 2019 to 2020, he had the unique honor of serving as part of the McMurdo Station in Antarctica, where he touched lives even in one of the world's most remote locations. He was a lifelong enthusiast of model railroads and motorcycles. A proud member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association, he was also a founding member of the Pearl City CMA, where his love of riding merged with his faith. His sense of duty to his community was further reflected in his membership with the Wilton American Legion. Jim's legacy is one of service, faith, and love for his community.
Jim will be dearly missed by his wife, Sherry; six children, Maria Huston, Natalie Huston, Andrea Huston, Destiney (Jeff) Brown, Michelle (Zack Aubrecht) Huston, Megan Huston; nine grandchildren, Viviana, Romeo, Easton, Blakely, Jaxon, Camron, Alexis, Callie and Serenity; his mother, Donna; a brother, Shayne (Diane) Huston; one sister, Jill (Nathan) Woodsmall, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Gary.
