Richard A. Knupp

    Richard A. Knupp, 86, of Columbus Junction, formerly of Washington, died Friday, May 8, 2009, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington, following a lengthy illness.

    Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 14, at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington with the Rev. Al Coffin officiating.  A private burial will be held with the family at a later date.  Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m.  Military honors will be conducted by Washington American Legion Post 29.  Memorials have been established for Camp Courageous or Hospice of Washington County.

    Mr. Knupp was born June 12, 1922, in Washington, the son of Cloyde and Minnie (Jackson) Knupp.  He married Virginia E. Wylie on Aug. 29, 1947, in Washington.  She preceded him in death on Dec. 7, 1994.  He married Betty Thompson on Nov. 25, 1995, in Columbus Junction.
