Richard Allen 'Dick' Nihart

      Richard Allen "Dick" Nihart, 78, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, after a long struggle with failing health. He had been living for the past two years near his youngest daughter in the Des Moines area. Following a recent hospitalization, he moved to hospice care at Kavanagh House.

      Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Washington, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, with the Rev. Mark Young officiating. Interment will take place at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton. Visitation will begin noon Friday at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Friday evening. There will be a Masonic Lodge Service at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home beginning 7 p.m. Friday evening. Memorials have been established for the United Methodist Church and Hospice of Iowa.
