Richard B. Thornton

      Richard B. "Dick" Thornton, 73, died April 7, 2006 at his home.

      The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hillsboro Cemetery with Frank Wilson officiating. Military services will be conducted by O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

      Visitation will begin today at 9 a.m. at the Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by a Masonic service at 7 p.m.

      In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ottumwa Masonic Lodge #16 AF and AM, O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars firing squads.

      Born Oct. 6, 1932 in Hillsboro, he was the son of David and Vera Sanderson Thornton. He married Shirley Ann Gray June 21, 1954.
