South English
Richard Clark "RC" Smith was born Jan. 17, 1979, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Gerald Clark and Violet Rae (Knerr) Smith. He graduated from English Valley High School in 1997, and later graduated from Truman State University with his master's degree in education. He recently worked as a title and mortgage processor for Washington Title & Guaranty Co. RC was a member of the English River Church of the Brethren, near South English. He enjoyed playing board games and cards, watching movies, collecting comic books and star trek/wars novelties, reading, visiting his friends in Columbia and playing with his cat Bubba. RC died on Thursday, September 3, 2020, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City at the age of 41 years.
He is survived by his parents, Gerry and Violet Smith of Keota; a sister, Heather (Randy) Williams of Harper; a niece, Ann Smith of Keota; a nephew, Elisha Williams of Harper; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded by his grandparents, two aunts and an uncle.
Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at the English River Church of the Brethren, near South English. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home in North English.
